It is with extreme regret that I must announce a postponement of the 2013 Southwestern Rendezvous.
Everyone on the Committee put in an extreme effort to overcome the last minute issues that caused
this postponement and each and every person did their best to present alternatives.
These alternatives included just too many compromises and removal of key events that give Rendezvous
it’s own unique “flavor”. Some of the compromises could have resulted in less safety and that is completely unacceptable.
The immediate plan is to try and re-schedule for another 3 day weekend possibly MLK or Presidents day.
Every member of the Committee will continue gathering and refining a list of potential host locations across
SoCal in the next two weeks. We will then convene a meeting to scrub the list further and make assignments
to make contact and determine if the location can work. If any person has any ideas, please feel free to
forward them to me via email and I will bring them to the table. Additionally if anyone has contacts at any
facility that either has or has not been identified, please share them with us.
It indeed will be very strange to not be rushing around on Thanksgiving Day preparing for Rendezvous and
seeing all the Sea Scouts who have worked and trained very hard for many months. We all wish there could
have been a different outcome.
